History Grand Prix Imola
The Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna has a rich but interrupted history. The Imola circuit originally hosted races under the name "Grand Prix of Italy" in 1980 and then as "Grand Prix of San Marino" from 1981 to 2006, when the official Italian Grand Prix was held at Monza.
The most dramatic moment in the history of the Grand Prix was the black weekend of 1994, when Roland Ratzenberger and three-time world champion Ayrton Senna died during the same race weekend. These tragedies led to major safety improvements in Formula 1.

Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari
The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, often simply called "Imola", is a classic circuit with a special character. The circuit is 4.909 kilometers long and has 19 corners, most of which are technically challenging.
A notable feature is that the circuit, unlike most modern F1 tracks, is driven anti-clockwise. This puts a different strain on the cars and drivers. The circuit has natural elevation changes and follows the contours of the landscape, which contributes to its old school reputation.
About Emilia-Romagna and Imola
Imola and the surrounding Emilia-Romagna region together form one of the most characteristic areas of Northern Italy. Imola itself is a charming medieval town with narrow streets and colorful buildings. Off the beaten track, Imola offers sights such as the Rocca Sforzesca, an imposing 14th-century castle, and the beautiful gardens of Palazzo Tozzoni.
The Emilia-Romagna region is the culinary heart of Italy. It is home to some of Italy’s most famous specialties: Parmesan cheese from Parma, traditional balsamic vinegar from Modena and fresh pasta. The local cuisine is known for its rich, hearty flavors and traditional cooking methods that have been passed down through generations.
The region is also home to the Motor Valley, home to world-famous brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Ducati, all within an hour's drive of Imola and often offering factory tours.
Historic cities such as Bologna, Modena, Ravenna and Ferrara are also within easy reach and offer wonderful examples of Italian art, architecture and way of life.
The countryside around Imola varies from fertile plains to hills covered with vineyards, olive groves and orchards, ideal for walking, cycling or wine tasting in local cantinas.
