Grand Prix Qatar
The Qatar Grand Prix is a relatively new addition to the F1 calendar, having debuted in 2021. The race takes place at the Lusail International Circuit, some 30km outside Doha. The event is a night race, run under artificial lights. Conditions in Qatar can be extreme, with high temperatures and high humidity, even during night races. History Grand Prix Qatar
The Qatar Grand Prix has a very short history in Formula 1. The first race took place in 2021, when the event was added to the calendar as a replacement for races cancelled due to COVID-19. In 2022, the race was not held due to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The event returned in 2023 with a new 10-year contract until 2032. This edition was special because Max Verstappen secured his third world title there and went on to win the feature race. With only three races held, it is one of the newest Grands Prix in F1 history.

The Lusail International Circuit in Qatar is a 5.38 km long, 16-turn circuit located 30 km north of Doha. Designed by Hermann Tilke and opened in 2004 for MotoGP, it has also been used for F1 since 2021. The circuit features a flowing, fast layout with a long straight of over a kilometre where speeds of up to 320 km/h can be reached. The desert climate makes for challenging conditions with high temperatures and sometimes sand on the track.
For visitors, the most efficient transport option is to use the special shuttle buses that operate from various central locations in Doha during race weekends. This service is specifically designed for F1 events and avoids the parking problems and traffic congestion that can occur with individual transport.
