Grand Prix Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Grand Prix will return to the F1 calendar in November 2023 after a 41-year absence. The previous Las Vegas races in 1981-82 were held on a makeshift circuit in the parking lot of Caesars Palace. The current race will take place on a 6.12km street circuit that runs along the famous Las Vegas Strip, with the iconic casinos and hotels as a backdrop. It is a night race, uniquely taking place on a Saturday instead of the traditional Sunday. F1 itself is acting as promoter and has invested heavily in a permanent facility. The Las Vegas Grand Prix will be held from November 21 to November 23, 2025.

History Grand Prix Las Vegas

The first version of the race took place in 1981 and 1982 under the name Caesars Palace Grand Prix. These races were held on a temporary circuit built in the parking lot of the Caesars Palace hotel and casino.

After a 41-year absence, F1 returns to Las Vegas in November 2023, but this time with a completely new approach. The modern Las Vegas Grand Prix is a much more ambitious undertaking, with a street circuit running along the famous Strip and showcasing the city’s iconic skyline.

This new version of the race is special because it is the first time that Formula 1 itself has acted as promoter, with a significant investment in infrastructure and a long-term commitment to the event as a flagship event on the F1 calendar.

Las Vegas Strip Circuit

The Las Vegas Strip Circuit is a 3.8-mile (6.12 km) street circuit that winds through the heart of Las Vegas, featuring 17 turns and a mix of fast straights and technical sections.

With a long straight on the Strip, the F1 cars can reach speeds of over 340 km/h. One challenge of the circuit is the temperature. The race takes place in November and it can get quite cold in the Nevada desert at night (around 10°C during the first edition). This creates challenges for the teams in getting and keeping the tyres up to temperature.

The Las Vegas Strip Circuit is exceptionally accessible, as it is located in the heart of the city and runs around the major hotels and casinos. Visitors staying in hotels on or near the Strip often have the option of walking to the race, a rare convenience for an F1 event. This means that many fans can walk directly from their hotel to their grandstand seats.
